AGRICULTURAL IRRIGATION

The orphanage is running a two-hectare big vegetable plot and a five-hectare big orchard. Unfortunately the climate does not allow us to rely on it every day of the year. In order to secure a high quality production throughout the whole year, we will need to develop an agricultural irrigation system.

Estimated Cost: 20,000 USD

  SOLAR POWER

The children's Village Kigarama suffers from a lack of electrical power. Our old solar system is not working properly. Especially during the night we have very little energy. Quite often our children are forced to do their homework under the weak light of paraffin lamps. Therefore we want to install a new solar power system.

Estimated Cost: 10,000 USD

VEGETABLE PRODUCTION

The orphanage will continue producing a big variety of fresh vegetables to secure the health and the well being of the children. Two hectares of land have been reserved to grow cabbage, tomatoes, onions, beans, leeks, corn, eggplants, zucchinis, soy, carrots, red beets, sweet potatoes and manioc.

Estimated Cost: 3,000 USD per year

TRANSPORTATION
Our old truck was involved in a severe accident. Unfortunately we are not able to repair it anymore. It is incredibly difficult to run an orphanage far away in the hills without any means of transportation. The Children's Village Kigarama urgently needs a strong, reliable truck.

Estimated costs: 25,000 USD

  THE MAIN ROAD

The orphanage wants to improve the general infrastructure of the children's village. We are planning to lay the main road with shaped stones, which is going to connect the entrance of the orphanage with the center of the children's village. The road will be 160m long and 4m wide.

Estimated costs: 18'000 USD

  MARCEL'S EYES

One of our boys is in danger of getting blind. When he was a young boy, a cow hit him in the eyes with its horns. For several years doctors have not been able to solve the problem. Recently we got the final diagnosis: Marcel will need a cornea operation on both his eyes otherwise he will get blind. We don't want to imagine what will become of a fourteen year old blind boy in Rwanda.

COST 10,000 USD

INTERNET CONNECTION

Communication is necessary for our growth yet a challenge in rural Rwanda. The capital city, Kigali, is a three and a half hour journey from our village. We need internet to be installed onsite for future development.

Estimated Cost: 12,000 USD

REINTEGRATION PROJECT

Residing at the Children's Village Kigarama, we now have 25 orphans between the ages of 18 and 21. Clearly, no longer children and taking up space desperately needed by new orphans in the community, they must be reintroduced into society to become productive self-reliant individuals. Knowing the difficulties that face them, we want to provide each one with 200 USD to help them move on.

Estimated cost: 6000 USD

After the production and launching of our first CD called " Save Africa", the Children's Village Kigarama is ready and eager to produce a second CD this year. This time our "Happiness Choir" will be in the spotlight. We are confident that their songs will travel to different corners of the world.
