June 2006: YOUNG PHILANTHROPIST
Kelly, a young 10 years old lady from Texas warmed up the hearts of over 100 orphans in Rwanda. She gathered by herself a huge donation for our kids. Flipp flopps, toys, tooth paste, tooth brushes, first aid items and hand made cards!!! Kelly, you are an extraordinary young woman!!! We are so proud of you!!! Please keep shining...You are fantastic!!!
July 2006: VIDEO CAMERA
Another dream became true. We got a brand new video camera with all what is needed to film. Kelly Kinsley was so kind to supply all that equipment for us. Soon you will have our little orphanage very close to you. Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills, will present to you with his beauty, landscapes, nature, wild life, people, traditions.... Thank you Kelly, for making that dream a reality!!!Probably I behave now like a kid with a new toy.... I like it and have lots of fun with it....and may the kid in us be always alive!!!
July 2006: WATER PUMP
Since five years we do not have running water at the orphanage. Matthias Kowoll from Germany came to change that situation. He is installing two water pumps that will supply the vital liquid to our many children. When the water comes to the children's village, we will celebrate a big feast.... a feast of joy and happiness.... a feast of water!!! Thank you Matthias for making our lives better!!! Soon we will take a shower in your honor!!!
July 2006: CD PROJECT
Just some days ago our children's choir "Friends of Jesus" produced in the capital Kigali it first CD. It is the first time that an orphan's choir accomplished such a task in Rwanda. The goal is to produce a CD with one of our choirs every year for the next six years!!! The kids like to sing and they have the talent to do it right!
July 2006: TAILORING SCHOOL
Tailoring school: 25 new students started on June 5 th their training as tailors in our brand new school. A two year programm will enable them to have a solid and practical oriented profession as tailors. The children's village is having a positive influence upon the neighboring community.
July 2006: NEW ADMISSIONS
Three little brothers became part of our family just some days ago. Emmanuel, Dada and Samuel struggeled two years long to survive by themselves. Their experience living on the streets finally came to a happy end. Now they can be kids again and enjoy the care of a loving home. Very welcome three little brothers!!!
July 2006: MANGO PROJECT
We took over 700 mangoes from Burundi to provide seeds for our mango orchard project. The size and quality of the choosen variety are excellent. But we have a "small" inconvinience.... to get the seeds, we will need to eat the mangoes....I think we all will survive that challenge....I would love to welcome YOU ALL to our delicious "mango party"!!! MMMnnnnhhhhh......!!!!
August 2006: Kindergarten's first day
Today Stephanie Rimarzik tought history for the first time at Children's Village Kigarama. She started on the 8th of August with ten of our own kids in a brand new classroom. Stephanie will be with us until December and will train two staff members to in order to continue running our "ecole maternelle" in her absence. It is an incredibly beautiful gift to see the kids learning, playing, and having fun in school. Stephanie, "murakoze cyane" for making this dream possible!!! You are a huge blessing to us.
August 2006: Perla's Teddy
Just some days ago I got mail in Kigali. In the package was a letter and somethingelse: Dear Victor, my name is Elisabeth Korinth. I am 7 years old. I heard from Perla when my parents told me of her. I live in Germany. I want to give her my teddy-bear. Can you please give it to her. Thank you. Elisabeth.
WOW.... it is done! Elisabeth, you are a fantastic,amazing young Lady!!

September 2006: SEWING AWAY!!
Today 30 students finished the first trimester of the tailoring school. They have learned and worked a lot. Now the time came for them to take a short break and go back home. Well done my dear tailoring students! Enjoy your hollydays and we will see you soon at the begining of the second trimester. Keep growing and learning.
November 2006: LOOK AS US NOW!!
Steffi together with three of our older boys painted one of the biggest stone signs of Rwanda ( 12 meters long and 1,5 meters wide ).
Now the words L'ESPERANCE can be read from a very long distance. Nobody traveling the main road can now overlook the name of our orphanage. People even stop to admire such a huge sign...Well done Steffi!!
December 2006: Mango Mango!!
Once more again we were invited to celabrate a mango party. This time we bought 2200 mangoes from Burundi. Due the low germination rate we were forced to get more seeds. Now we are sure that we will have enough seedlings to reach our 1000 mango trees. By the way, the mangoes tasted delicious....MMnnhhh!!!
December 2006: Directions Anyone???
To find our little orphanage up on the hills is not always easy. How to ask for directions in a language that You do not know? Sometimes people got lost trying to find us. Steffi and Elisabeth Hecker changed that. They painted two metal signs. Now the way to the Children's Village Kigarama is clear. You are very welcome to visit us.
December 2006: Farewell Friend!!
Stephanie Rimarzik went back to Germany the 21 of December 2006. She spent with us five months. Steffi was a great help and blessing to each one of us. Dear Steffi, be sure that we will never forget You. You left deep footprints in our hearts and minds. May the orphanage have also always a place in Your heart. Murakoze cyane for being with us. We will miss You.
December 2006: Merry Christmas!!
In spite of all the pain and misery going on all around, life is precious and beautiful. We celebrated Christmas and New Eve with the children. It was a feast of joy and happiness. The kids got especial food, shoes, cloth, toys and school materials. We had the privilege to play, to sing and dance together. Thanks to each one of You who made that possible.
